벼락을 맞고도 살아나다

제가 17세 때인 1960년 4월10일 오후 4시경에 일어난 일이었습니다. 안식일 오후 예배를 마치고 집으로 돌아왔는데 큰비는 아니지만 봄비가 내렸고, 시기적으로 보아 뇌성벼락이 치는 계절은 아니었습니다.
저는 배가 고파 어머니에게 저녁밥을 재촉하고는 밖에 나와 옆집 구멍가게 기둥에 몸을 기대고 있었습니다. 그때 그 가게에서는 면사무소에서 근무하는 아저씨가 비를 피하기 위해 바지를 걷어올리고 있었습니다.
그런 상태에서 벼락을 맞고 저는 정신을 잃어 버렸습니다. 그리고 몇 시간이 지났는지 모르는데 아주 멀리서 기막히게 아름다운 음악 소리가 들렸습니다. 저는 그 음악 소리가 나는 곳으로 점점 가까이 가게 되었는데, 그 소리가 바로 제 옆에서 나길래 눈을 뜨고 보니 삼계교회 교인들이 제 옆에서 아주 충만하게 방언 기도를 하고 있었습니다.
교인들이 함께 기도하던 그 소리가 저의 귀에는 이 세상에서 들어본 적이 없는 아름다운 음악 소리로 들렸던 것입니다. 지금 생각해도 그 소리는 황홀한 기억으로 되살아납니다.
제가 눈을 뜨자 “학열(김충실 집사의 본명)이가 눈을 떴다. 봐라, 살아계신 우리 하나님이 살리셨다”고 외치는 김디모데 목자님의 소리가 들렸습니다. 그리고 “너 나를 아느냐? 어디 아프지 않느냐?”고 물으시는데 제 몸이 이상하고 정상이 아님을 알게 되었고, 정신은 들었지만 일어날 수가 없었습니다.
그러자 교인들이 다시 기도하고 찬송을 하는데 밖에서는 수많은 사람들이 이 장면을 지켜보고 있었습니다. 우리 가족들은 제가 세시간 가량 숨이 멎어 있었기 때문에 이미 죽은 것으로 알고 저녁에 매장할 준비를 하고 있었다고 했습니다.
저는 구멍가게의 기둥에 서 있다가 그 기둥을 때린 벼락을 맞았던 것입니다. 저와 2미터 정도 떨어진 곳에 있던 아저씨는 벼락 소리에 놀라 기절하여 병원에 실려가 치료를 받았습니다. 제 몸은 벼락이 지나가 왼쪽이 발가락에서 머리까지 검게 타버렸습니다.
집안 형편이 어려워 병원에 가서 치료도 못했지만 기도의 힘으로 눈으로 확인할 정도로 상처가 회복되어 다음 안식일에는 제 발로 걸어서 예배에 참석했습니다.
지금도 그때의 흔적이 두 가지 있습니다. 제 등 한가운데 백원 짜리 동전 크기의 흉터가 아직도 남아 있고, 그 가게 기둥이 쪼개진 채 지금도 있습니다. 사람들이 자꾸 와서 구경을 하는 바람에 집주인이 판자로 그 자리를 막아 버렸습니다.
신기한 것은 제가 넘어진 장소가 그 당시 아주 위험한 곳이었는데 한 사람 겨우 누울 만한 안전한 곳에 제가 넘어져 있었다고 합니다. 그리고 그 가게는 초가집이어서 벼락을 치자 지붕이 뒤집어지고 포탄을 맞은 것처럼 연기가 하늘로 올라갔는데도 불이 나지 않았습니다. 하나님의 은혜에 감사를 드립니다. 할렐루야.
보충 간증: 김디모데 목자
삼계교회에서 있었던 일입니다. 어느 여름철 안식일이었는데, 김학열이라고 교회에 다니는 17세 먹은 학생이 안식일 예배를 보고 집으로 돌아왔습니다. 그 집 옆에 가게가 있었고 가게 앞에는 개울이 흐르고 있었습니다. 그런데 소낙비가 막 쏟아지니까 이 학생이 기둥 나무에 몸을 기대고 서 있었습니다.
그런데 갑자기 하늘에서 벼락이 그 기둥나무를 쳐버리고 말았습니다. 기둥나무가 두개로 쪼개져 버리고, 가게에 있던 사람도 앞으로 쓰러지고, 기둥나무에 기대있던 이 학생도 정신을 잃고 도랑에 쓰러져 버렸습니다. 사람들이 그 학생을 집에 데려다 놓았습니다.
제가 그날 심방 갔다가 버스에서 막 내리니까 부락 사람들이 말했습니다. “하나님이 벼락을 쳐서 참예수교회 학생이 죽어버렸다.” 그래서 그 집을 찾아갔는데 사람들이 처마 밑과 마루와 방에 가득 차 있었습니다. 교인들이 와 있었고, 학생의 작은아버지, 작은어머니, 친척들, 이웃 사람들도 많이 있었습니다. 가서 보니까 학생이 소리를 지르며 발버둥을 치고 사경을 헤매고 있었습니다.
그래서 제가 “여기서 우리 교인 아닌 분들은 다 나가세요”라고 하고 문을 잠가버렸습니다. 그리고 “기도합시다”라고 하면서 계속해서 기도를 했습니다. 낮이고 밤이고 계속해서 기도를 했는데, 교인들이 교대해 가면서 계속 기도했습니다. 주사를 맞게 한다거나 약은 전혀 먹이지 않았습니다.
저는 참예수교인에게 이런 일이 일어났다는데 충격을 받았지만, ‘이 학생이 죄가 있어서 이런 일을 당한 것은 아닐 것이다. 여기에는 반드시 하나님의 깊은 뜻이 있을 것이다’라고 생각했습니다. 그래서 믿음을 가지고 기도를 했습니다.
그 학생은 나아서 그 다음 안식일에 바로 교회에 나왔습니다. 그래서 살펴보니까 벼락이 머리에서 발끝까지 지나갔는데, 옷이 다 타고 살갗이 타버렸습니다. 그러나 병원도 가지 않았고 기도를 통해 일주일만에 나아서 교회에 나온 것입니다.
이런 소문이 퍼져서 멀리서도 “여기 벼락 맞아서 죽었다 살아난 사람이 있다는데 누굽니까?”하고 찾아오기도 했습니다.

천사의 계시를 받음
간증자 대만 성공교회 오효용 형제
제 이름은 오 효용(吳孝勇)입니다. 저는 대동현(臺東縣) 성공진 삼민리 삼민로 13의 1번지에 살고 있습니다. 1942년 9월 1일에 태어났습니다. 현재는 성공 교회의 종교교육 교사입니다.
1963년에 군에 입대하여 훈련을 받던 중에 동료들이 나쁜 짓을 하는데 같이 어울리자고 했습니다. 저는 하나님을 믿는 사람이 그러한 바르지 못한 길을 가서는 안된다고 생각하고 그들의 제안을 거절하고 혼자 내무반에 남았습니다.
주위에는 아무도 없었습니다. 저는 아주 자유로워서 즉시 기도하며 찬송을 했습니다. 그때가 6월 10일이었습니다.
그런데 “효용아! 효용아!”하는 작은 소리가 들렸습니다. 저는 주위를 살펴 보았지만 부르는 사람을 발견하지 못했습니다. 그래서 잘못 들었나 보다하고 갸우뚱하고 있을 때 다시 한번 저의 이름을 부르는 소리를 들었습니다. 고개를 들어 보니 금빛으로 빛나는 사람이 있었습니다. 그리고 말했습니다.
“두려워 말아라. 나는 너에게 하나님의 계시를 전하려 한다. 하나님은 현재 교회의 믿음이 매우 냉랭한 것을 보고 계신다. 회개하고 처음 믿을 때의 열심을 내야 한다. 그렇지 않으면 하나님께서 버리실 것이다. 주님 오실 날이 가까왔다. 마땅히 깨어서 주님의 구원의 날을 기다려야 한다. 너는 이 말을 전 교회에 전하라. 침묵해서는 안된다.”
이 말을 마치고 그 천사는 하늘로 다시 올라 갔습니다.천사의 계시를 들은 후, 저는 하나님의 능력과 사랑을 깊이 느꼈습니다. 그리고 마음의 위로와 믿음의 견고함을 크게 얻었습니다.
